Meet Our Administrator & Owner

Wade Chilcoat, CDP, MBA

Hi, I’m Wade Chilcoat, owner of Tilden Memory Care & Assisted Living. After years living in South Korea, where I was struck by the deep cultural respect for elders, I felt called to bring that same mindset to senior care here in Virginia.

As a licensed administrator, nursing aide, and Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP), I’m closely involved in daily operations—but it’s our consistency, transparency, and heartfelt care that families remember most. Although not an official Tilden employee, Wade’s wife Dongjin is a geriatric nurse practitioner who helps provide guidance in delivering exceptional person-centered care. If you’re looking for a place where your loved one will be truly seen and supported, I’d be honored to connect.

Why Families Trust Tilden

"It was an answered prayer when we discovered and then moved our mother into Tilden Memory Care. They did so much to make her stay pleasant, safe and comfortable, from ably managing her care to treating her with dignity. They staff was wonderful and attentive. They communicated well, providing updates on how she was doing if we couldn't visit, and they welcomed us warmly when we gathered as a family. They provided comfort to her, and it was reassuring knowing she lived in a warm setting with wonderful people looking after her. Thank you, Tilden Memory Care!"

- Ned Sheeran

“The Tilden Memory Care team is building a best-in-class approach to dementia caregiving: a smart mix of both in-home and dementia community care. I’m always thankful when a team reaches out to me, because I know that means they’re serious about putting systems and approaches in place that will best serve their residents and their residents’ families. This team is creating a unique, creative approach to meet families and individuals living with dementia where they are—exactly when they need it most.”

- Rachael Wonderlin, MS

Owner of Dementia By Day, LLC

"My Dad was the very first resident at Tilden Memory Care over two years ago and we are so pleased with the care that he receives. Dad was previously in a larger facility with about 20 people in the memory neighborhood. The difference is night and day - he isn't just another resident, but part of the family. The staff affectionately call him "Uncle Bob!" With just 8 residents, it feels more like home and he receives loving and personalized attention. I live about an hour away and wish I could visit more often, but knowing he is with his Tilden Family makes my heart happy and at ease. Highly recommend!"

- Pamela Grimes

"The owners and staff at Tilden home go above and beyond to care for their residents and communicate with family members. They have provided the best care and environment for my 109 year old relative that I could have ever hoped for. They have enhanced her quality of life and provided her with a true "home" during the last years of her life, and continue to do so. I can't say enough good things about this facility."

Frequently Asked Questions

What care types do you offer, and who's a good fit?

We offer assisted living, memory care, and short-term respite care in a quiet, residential setting.

Tilden is a great fit for individuals who need support with daily activities—such as bathing, dressing, medication, or mobility—and who benefit from a calm environment with close supervision.

While we specialize in dementia care, assisted living residents are also welcome, even without a dementia diagnosis. Many families choose Tilden because their loved one prefers the peacefulness and intimacy of a small home over the busy, social atmosphere of a large facility.

We may not be the right fit for individuals at high risk of elopement, who are violent or overly aggressive, or who require a two-person assist for most daily tasks. However, families are always welcome to hire a private aide for added support.

What makes Tilden different from larger facilities?

Unlike large, institutional settings, Tilden offers care in a peaceful, single-story home where everything is intentionally simple, familiar, and easy to navigate. There are no elevators, no confusing hallways, and no long lists of new faces to learn.

For residents with memory loss, this makes a big difference. The smaller scale helps reduce confusion, ease anxiety, and lower the risk of agitation that sometimes happens during transitions in larger environments. Residents quickly get to know their caregivers and surroundings, which supports a calmer, more stable adjustment.

What are your staff qualifications?

Tilden Memory Care & Assisted Living is one of the only residential homes in Virginia with a full-time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) on-site most weekdays. In addition, all caregivers are trained through Relias and Dementia by Day, including techniques specific to communication, redirection, and supporting residents with memory loss. These qualifications and training go far beyond state required minimums.

We also partner with medical professionals, including nurse practitioners and therapists, who visit the home regularly.

How much does care cost at Tilden?

Tilden offers all-inclusive pricing, so you won’t find the large surprise charges that are common at larger, itemized facilities. Most room features and services are included in one monthly rate, which makes budgeting simpler for families.
